Licensing

The Town of Ennis requires all individuals and businesses operating within its jurisdiction to obtain a valid business license prior to conducting any work, trade, or professional activity, in accordance with Montana law. Licenses are issued by the Town Clerk-Treasurer or Deputy Clerk and must be approved by the Mayor. Applicable license fees are established by resolution of the Town Commission and are subject to periodic review, with payment required at the time of application and prior to the start of operations. Certain exceptions apply, including qualifying home-based businesses with no employees, nonprofit organizations, governmental entities, specific wholesale and delivery operations, and select state-regulated professions where local licensing is preempted.
